In this memoir Agnese Pini undertakes an intimate and difficult-to-tell investigation in which she brings to life family objects and memories, the faces of those who knew her father, Don Pini, before the turning point that occurred in the late 1970s, when he chose love for a girl and a new life in the priesthood. The author reconstructs the long journey and the inner work it took to reconcile with her family's past.

Agnese Pini (Carrara, 1985), a journalist, has been director of “La Nazione” since August 2019, the first woman to hold this position in the newspaper's more than 160-year history. Since July 2022, she has also taken over the editorship of “il Resto del Carlino,” “Il Giorno,” and “Quotidiano Nazionale.” Since May 2025, she has been President of the Longanesi publishing house.
