BUILDING THE FUTURE

(TRECCANI)

The book Frame - Building The Future is a photographic reportage on the construction of a large modern ship, built over two years in the shipyards of Saint-Nazaire, France, thanks to the work of more than 2,000 workers, technicians and engineers. This journey into the bowels of the ship also offers an important testimony to the transformation process that maritime transport is undergoing in the search for increasingly sustainable solutions.
During the meeting, the authors will talk about the process of making a fine art book, from the initial idea of a large long-term industrial photography project to the printing.

Ivan Sarfatti, a reportage photographer, he specialised in industrial photography and developed a particular aptitude for ‘seeing the world from above’ thanks to his experience shooting from helicopters. He has travelled through 62 countries and photographed 40 ships. He has worked with MSC since 2006. He was assistant to Gabriele Basilico.

Marianna Santoni has been working at the intersection of art and technology for over twenty years, combining an artistic-humanistic education with high technical knowledge. An international expert in digital photographic workflow management, she has received the highest number of awards from leading brands in the industry.
