POLAR EXPRESS

ROBERT ZEMECKIS, USA, 2004, 100’
On the night of Christmas Eve, a little boy stays awake to see if it really is Santa Claus who leaves presents under the Christmas tree. All of a sudden, from his bedroom window he sees a giant steam train stop right outside his house. Rushing outside for a closer look, he realises that it's the Polar Express, the train bound for the North Pole. Reluctant at first, the boy finally decides to climb aboard just as the train is leaving and, once inside the carriage, he meets other children with whom he shares a series of adventures before finally arriving at the North Pole. The conductor then announces that one of the passengers will be chosen to receive the first gift of Christmas from Santa Claus himself.

BELLE AND SEBASTIAN

NICOLAS VANIER, FRANCE, 2013, 98’
Eight-year-old Sebastian lives in the French Alps together with César, an old shepherd who is like a grandfather to him, and César’s niece, Angélina. One day, Sebastian's life changes radically when he meets a huge mountain dog covered in mud. In no time at all, the dog that locals consider a wild beast actually becomes the little boy's best friend, and he names her Belle. The pair become inseparable, even though the villagers dislike the dog and do everything they can to get rid of it. Together, Belle and the Sebastian will have to overcome many perils and even a terrifying hunt in order to prove the dog's good nature and stay together.
