WELCOME JOHN LANDIS

In collaboration with Cineteca di Bologna Cineteca and International Filmmaking Academy

The MAST Foundation is pleased to host the famous director John Landis, who, together with the director of Cineteca di Bologna, Gian Luca Farinelli, will introduce the film Into the Night (John Landis, United States, 1985, 115 min) with Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Pfeiffer and Dan Aykroyd.
Distracted in work meetings, betrayed by his wife and constantly afflicted by insomnia, engineer Ed Okin (Goldblum) gets in his car one night and races to the Los Angeles airport. A beautiful stranger, Diana (Pfeiffer), swoops down on the hood of his car, terrorized and chased by four Persian killers. Thus begins their desperate escape in this breakneck, night-time adventure. The film features several cameos: from Jack Arnold to Paul Bartel, from David Bowie to David Cronenberg, up to Don Siegel and Jonathan Demme.

A multifaceted figure in American cinema, John Landis (Chicago, 1950) is not only a director but also an actor, screenwriter and producer.
Even as a young boy, he spent time on sets and in production houses, participating as an extra or as an assistant. After his directorial debut in 1973, he achieved his first success in 1978 with Animal House; the next film, The Blues Brothers (1980), which also stars John Belushi, immediately garnered a cult following and guaranteed him international fame.
Among his other feature films are An American Werewolf in London (1981), Trading Places (1983) and Coming to America (1988).
He also directed the music video for Michael Jackson's Thriller (1983), one of the most famous and expensive in history.
