The MAST Photography Grant on Industry and Work exhibition is the final stage in a journey of photographic research and practice that has engaged the young finalists for more than a year, supported by the jury members and the MAST Foundation's curators.
The accompanying catalogue presents the projects of the five finalist, introduced by critical essays written by their selectors, which delve into each work by framing it in its context of reference and emphasizing its relationship to the themes at the heart of the Grant: industry and labour.
All together the projects significantly enrich the artistic discourse by offering new insights and fresh perspectives on reality and on the economic and productive transformations of our times, with their environmental, social, ethical, and geographical implications.
Their authors—Felicity Hammond, Gosette Lubondo, Silvia Rosi, Sheida Soleimani and Kai Wasikowski—show diverse and vibrant, evocative and original visual approaches, capturing our increasingly globalized, interconnected, and standardized world, where individual narratives, significant events, and local specificities intertwine, prompting us to reflect on our collective destiny while resonating deeply with our most personal emotions.
