«During the first lockdown I started writing a text. As I was writing, death was all around me. As the great painter Rothko would say, when you create art you're either talking about life and death or it’s better to not create art. Amen is the word that consecrates the possibility that life can exist even where death exists, that death cannot be the last word on life.»
Massimo Recalcati
The only way to fight death is by singing a hymn to life. The only way to start over, today, is to do so forcefully. The personal and spiritual history of a mother and son merges poetically with the last fifty years of Italy’s history in this theatrical production, posing questions regarding the "beyond", both divine and otherwise. Amen is an ode to resistance in which Recalcati risks everything for love, the true driving force of existence, exorcising the taboo topic of death. The production reminds us that only in the present moment does everything condense; only in the present moment is all energy activated. Only by fearlessly concentrating on the "now" can one find true certainty. From this first theatrical text by Massimo Recalcati, director Valter Malosti has created an experiential audio installation: a concert for vocals, electronics and electric guitars.
