At the end of 2023, eight young blind and visually impaired people took part in a creative writing workshop organized by the Istituto dei Ciechi Francesco Cavazza, in collaboration with Silvia Colombini. During the workshop, they explored the theme of beauty in depth.

This experience led to the publication of the book Guardami. La bellezza dal mio punto di vista, curated by Silvia Colombini and published by Pendragon, as well as the creation of a documentary of the same name, directed by Marina De Polo.

Candy Castellucci, Filmon Yemane, Alessia Mambrin, Ivan Silvino, Karim Gouda, Marco Zollo, Akeem Abu Karaky, and Veronica Giorgiana Malureanu reflected on the concept of beauty by exploring five different areas: fashion, video and technology, art, photography, and movement. Touching fabrics, baking bread, shaping clay, loving Van Gogh – our aesthetic sense is shaped by what we perceive through all of our senses, but most importantly, by what resonates within our souls and touches our hearts. A unique and particularly valuable perspective in a world obsessed with image and appearance.

The project will be presented by Loretta Secchi, curator of the Anteros Tactile Museum at the Istituto dei Ciechi Francesco Cavazza, and Martina De Polo, with moderation by Federica Rapini from Pendragon.

At the end, the docufilm will be screened in the presence of two of its authors and performers, Marco Zollo and Filmon Yemane.
